Help Homeless Students Attend Prom

More than 7,200 students IN HISD are classified as homeless. Unlike their peers, they aren’t thinking about renting a tux, buying new shoes, or taking their date to a fancy restaurant. Instead, they’re worrying about where they’ll sleep at night, how they’ll find their next meal, or whether they’ll have a clean shirt for school the next day. Prom is a luxury they can’t afford. That’s why Mocha Man Style, This Woman’s Work, and Wanda Adams, Harris County Justice of the Peace, Precinct 7, Place 1, are hosting a Prom Dress & Suit Drive

Roberta Flack’s voice captured love, longing, and human connection like no other.

Her artistry went beyond her velvety vocals. A classically trained pianist and masterful interpreter of lyrics, she shaped soul, R&B, and jazz for decades. At a time when the industry was dominated by loud, forceful voices, Flack’s quiet intensity broke through, proving that softness could be just as powerful.

Beyond music, she championed education and the arts, using her success to uplift others. Her legacy is one of grace, authenticity, and timeless artistry.

Though she is gone, her songs will continue to move, heal, and remind us of love’s enduring power.
