Movember Saves Lives

Movember Saves Lives

Since 2015, I’ve been raising money and awareness for Movember, a movement dedicated to helping men live happier, healthier, and longer lives. My passion for this cause stems from my own health battles—stroke, hypertension, and heart disease—as well as the devastating loss of friends and family members to cancer. I participate in Movember to encourage men to take control of their health, both physically and mentally.

My Friend Died from Colon Cancer

My friend James died of colon cancer a few months after his 43rd birthday. He lived a good life and fought a good fight. I think about him every day. I can still hear his laugh. Listening to Run-DMC brings back vivid memories of our school days. Old photos remind me of the good times we had together.

The Barbershop Can Save Your Life

The barbershop is a special place. You can get a shave and a haircut and make friends, watch the game, and participate in lively discussions on politics, sports, popular culture, and relationships. During one visit to the barbershop, I discovered that it could be much more than a social hub. It can be life-saving.

We want to help artists grow creatively and professionally, protect the value of their songs, and create opportunities for their music to live in film, television,...

Kandy G. Lopez Stitches Everyday People Into Majestic Portraits When I first saw a photo of Kandy G. Lopez’s work online, I thought I was looking at a painting. Then I looked closer and realized it was not painted at all. It was made with yarn, thread, and fiber, built strand by strand with an extraordinary level of patience. I was amazed by the skill and precision, and I knew I had to see her work in person. Read Article Clarence Heyward’s “Eden” Reimagines Paradise Through Black Experience...

Ten Years Without Prince Prince was one of the greatest musicians who ever lived. His music could move your body, break your heart, and stretch your mind, sometimes in the same song. You can hear it across his catalog, but you can see it most clearly in moments like his Rock and Roll Hall of Fame performance on “While My Guitar Gently Weeps,” when he reminded the entire world that there are gifted musicians, and then there was Prince.
